Bike Kingdom
Why you should go there: Lenzerheide calls itself the “Bike Kingdom” – which illustrates its ambition to become one of the prime biking destinations in Europe. Lenzerheide, host of the XC- and DH- world cups, has an offering for everyone, from the youngest shredders over park rats to tour/all-mountain riders. Even some high alpine hike-a-bike adventures are part of the trail network. The landscape, the lake and the close city of Chur offer many options for excursions off the bike.
Who is it for: Lenzerheide offers a huge network of trails in all difficulties and the route network allows bikers great riding in an alpine scenery. The bike park has become the place-to-be-seen in the last years. There is also a skill centre for the absolute beginners and the youngest riders to safely practice riding.
Who should avoid it: Nobody – However, if you are a purist looking for a quiet mountain experience you need to avoid the crowds around the lifts and the region might feel like a “mountain theme park”.
Trails
There are many options for every taste. Bike park lovers will spend most of their time at the Rothorn and in the “Alpenbikepark” in Chur.
Arosa and Lenzerheides west side around Piz Scalottas are a little more quiet and intended for tour/all-mountain (no transport with DH bikes/Fullface on the lift – to not scare the hikers). You´ll find some flow- and hiking trails adapted for bikers there.
Schafälpli and Welschtobel offer epic trail connections to Arosa and can be integrated in great all day enduro rides. The backside of Piz Scalottas towards Thusis is wilder and offers a little more backcountry feeling.
