Terrific Tuscany

Why you should go there: Spend a few quiet days relaxing and discovering the less famous tuscan backcountry. Ride fantastic hand-built trails!

Rincine Trail Area is located just around 30 km north-west of the world famous city of Firenze and delivers a striking contrast to the touristic and crowded tuscan capital. The little villages along the Valdisieve are connected by narrow and winding roads and seem super-remote. In the tiny town of Rincine local bikers have created a gem of a trail center in collaboration with the forest service. Backcountry touring or shuttle days on excellent trails, both is possible here!

Who is it for: Do you prefere tranquility over bustle and want spend a few days on a peaceful agriturismo in a remote area? Want to ride some fantastic trails also? Consider Rincine Trail Area! This area could also make a nice stopover on your roadtrip (see our other italian destinations)!

Who should avoid it: If you are looking for nightlife and cultural offering the close surrounding of Rincine will disappoint you. Consider staying in Firenze and doing the drive (~1h) to the trails.

Trails

Most of the trails in Rincine are located at the hillside east of Rincine. This is also the main shuttle area, but the trails can also be easily accessed pedalling up a well-maintained forest road with very little traffic. The trails are handbuilt and offer a very nice variety of terrain and small features mostly in the forest. Rocks and roots, berms and tight switchbacks, small jumps and drops offer good flow for intermediate to advanced riders.

For backcountry touring with great views ride up to Monte Massicaia and take one of the trails back down to the basin. The (black) trails of Rincine have a slightly more natural character than the blue lines and and could be appealing for the “traditionalist” biker.
