Why you should go there: Welcome to postcard Switzerland! The Zermatt region is world-famous for its breathtaking mountain scenery surmounted by the Matterhorn. Many hiking trails in the area have been used by huge amounts of tourists, hikers and alpinists giving them a very special flow for bikers in unparalled scenery. Zermatt welcomes mountainbikers on its trails based on the “shared trails” principle with only very few restrictions, making it a very attractive destination. If you are looking to ride amazing alpine trains in mindblowing scenery this destination is for you!

Who is it for: Intermediate to very good riders looking for flowy trails in mindblowing alpine landscape might find their dream destination.

Who should avoid it: If you are looking for peace and quiet the amount of people in and around Zermatt might be disturbing for you. Only in very remote high alpine places distant from mountain railways you might what you are looking for.

Zermatt offers trails for bikers of all skill levels. However, if you want to enjoy some of the alpine trails you should bring some routine on the bike and intermediate skills. Many of the trails can be conveniently accessed by mountain railway and cable car.

Beginners and berm-lovers will like the purpose built flowtrails. These also make good alternatives to crowded hiking trails during peak times. Great all-mountain trails can be found all around, try the trails north of Schwarzsee for a start.

Fantastic technical trails can be found at Gornergrat and Trockener Steg. For epic hike-a-bike adventures you should consider Oberrothorn and Plathorn.
